First Swim of the Season

It was 92 today, so I pulled out the pool and the girls had fun! By the time Addison woke up from her nap, the pool was in the shade, so it was a little chilly, but they wouldn't get out!

This video was the girls getting into the pool for the first time. I put the end of the slide into the pool so they could have a water slide.

This video was Arilyn's second time down the slide. She is hesitant because right before this Addison went down and because she had a wet bottom, she went very fast and landed horizontal in the pool and went under a little. She didn't like that and wouldn't go down the slide again! Arilyn kept going up and down though!

Here are the still pictures from the day...

Arilyn & Addison anxiously waiting for me to take pictures so they could go swim.

How goofy are my children?? While I was getting their towels out of the linen closet I told them to go downstairs and get their shoes on. In my mind, I figured they'd put on their crocs. Apparently I was mistaken! I guess rain boots are shoes!

Playing in the pool.

Arilyn loves the water!

Addison was so cold her teeth were chattering, but she did not want to get out!

More playing.

Finally, I bribed Addison to get out and put her towel on by giving her some of my pretzels.

Writing

Arilyn is really into writing these days. She can write her name and wants to know how to write all the other letters, so I found this notebook at Target that has the alphabet, numbers, and other words on it. It's like a dry erase board, so she can erase and do it all over again. She loves it!

Arilyn writing with her new notebook.

When she's concentrating, her tongue comes out. It's funny!

And of course, Addison has to do everything her big sister does, so she was drawing too.

I think Addison got more marker on her body than actually made it onto the paper.

Franklin Park Zoo--Boston

We finally had a beautiful day after all the rain and decided to take advantage of it by going to one of the two zoos in Boston. My brother said I was spoiled by all the great zoos in Ohio, because I wasn't too impressed with this zoo. There weren't a lot of animals and the exhibits weren't that great. Overall, we had a good time. There was hardly anyone there, so we didn't have to deal with crowds and the girls of course loved it. The rain forest building with all the monkeys was definitely everyone's favorite exhibit.

Zebras

The lazy lion sleeping.

The giraffes.

It must have been a lazy day for all the animals- the kangaroos were lounging, too.

Shawn took this at just the right time. Hilarious!

Arilyn & Addison enjoying their day.

This was our favorite part- the monkeys. The gorillas were sitting right next to the glass and the girls were amazed. Addison kept saying- Monkey! Monkey! Then she'd make a loud monkey sound.

Watching the gorillas.

I know this picture is blurry, but I had to post it. Arilyn was right next to the glass, the monkey started to get up and it scared her. She jumped back so fast- it was so funny. I think it looks like she's trying to do some karate moves on the gorilla.

Right outside the rain forest building there was this huge gorilla statue. It looked kinda freaky to me, but the girls wanted to take a picture with it. They had a good time!
