York's Wild Kingdom

Yesterday was Take a Trip Tuesday, so we decided to go to York's Wild Kingdom. It has a small zoo and carnival type rides. We only did the zoo side. It was a lot of fun and you got to get pretty close to the animals.

We made it! We didn't tell the kids where we were going, so they were trying to guess the whole ride.

We went after lunch and I thought Alexa would sleep on the way...nope :0/

By the birch tree.

There were ducks everywhere and you could get food to feed them. I thought for sure someone was going in the water- mainly Owen because he was trying to touch them. Thankfully no one did!

The ducks were so used to people, we almost got them to eat out of our hand.

Everyone looking at the ducks.

They also had a ton of goats that you could feed. The kids were loving this. Owen wasn't as scared as he was when we were in Indiana. Although he would only feed the baby ones.

Shawn caught a great picture of Arilyn laughing because the goat was tickling her hand.

They had two tigers. It wasn't hot, but they were being lazy. You can see the white tiger head by the far tree.

Owen looking for the tiger

I thought this picture was so funny! It looks like he's smiling and ready to eat us! I love it!

Alexa checking out the alligators.

Addison and Owen staring down the alligators.

A kookaburra

They had a big deer feeding area as well. They were so pretty.

Arilyn feeding the deer

Shawn was trying to get a good shot of the deer, but it blinked! I thought it still looked cute and shows their long eyelashes!

Across from the deer they had two black bear that Addison was looking for.

Some deer had big fuzzy antlers.

Being silly!

Addison trying to be silly, but more interested in something else!

They got to hold a boa constrictor. I thought they would be more freaked out, but they loved it. Owen got to hold the head. They all said- whoa! It's really heavy!

A colorful bird- not sure what it's called.

This was Addison's favorite bird because it's her favorite color!

There was a really neat butterfly house. There were butterflies everywhere! The kids really wanted one to land on them, but they didn't. Probably because they couldn't hold still if their lives depended on it :0) A couple landed on me and Shawn, but they didn't stay long and we couldn't get a picture.

Shawn loved it in here and got more pics of the butterflies than our kids :0)

I want a garden like this in my yard so it will attract butterflies!

A big tortoise.

Another highlight of the visit...the kids got to ride a camel!

It was way over priced and way too short, but they loved it. $5 a person and they went in a small circle twice. Really? I guess all that matters is they loved it, right? That's what I'm telling myself anyway!

Coming into the loading dock

Handsome Harry was the camel's name

Checking out a toucan

Lazy lions. The kids were a little disappointed with all the 'Feed the Animal' signs/food that they didn't get to feed the lions! Crazy kids.

A very pretty macaw who kept saying 'Hello' and 'Uh oh' This was Arilyn's favorite bird because she did a report about macaws at school.

Back at the goats...Alexa got to feed them this time around.

She didn't want to let go of the food

And when the goat finally ate it she pulled her hand back with a disgusted look on her face! It was pretty funny!

Owen loved the baby goats! A very fun 'Take a Trip Tuesday'
